Dr. Dohring graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and Yale Medical School. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency and Spine Fellowship training at the Spine Institute of New England and at the University of Washington. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Dohring trained with the world's best neurosurgeons and orthopaedic scoliosis surgeons, as well as in Pain Management; he offers special expertise in the surgical and non-surgical care of spinal disorders. Dr. Dohring can care for the complete spectrum of spinal disorders; his expertise is in the neck (cervical spine), back (lumbar spine), spinal injuries (trauma), scoliosis, and spinal tumors.
In addition to patient care, he is also focused on teaching, research, and consulting for international spine companies, with an emphasis on worker’s compensation cases and medical/legal consultations. Having helped invent and developed numerous minimally invasive surgical devices for medical companies worldwide, Dr. Dohring is a nationally recognized leader in minimally invasive spine surgery procedures. Dr. Dohring is an acclaimed instructor and educator, training other spine surgeons both nationally and internationally. He is co-director of the Spine Institute of Arizona’s Spine Surgery Fellowship Program. Dr. Dohring’s recent research studies have included the artificial disc and other alternatives to fusion, as well as minimally invasive fusion and decompression surgery.
As founder and medical director of the Spine Institute of Arizona, he and his colleagues use a team approach to evaluate and treat patients most effectively.
