Physical Therapy

The Physicians at the Spine Institute of Arizona believe in managing each individual’s spine condition in the most conservative manner available in order to maintain and restore maximum movement and function throughout life. Our team understands the importance of therapy in achieving this state and provides a therapy team that is highly trained and experienced in the most up to date manual and exercise based therapy techniques to reduce pain and inflammation and restore proper mechanics so that you can return to your prior level of function.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, our therapy department, under the direction of Dr. Monte Hessler, works to evaluate strength, range of motion, flexibility, balance, posture, body mechanics, coordination and general mobility in order to individually tailor a program of therapy specific to each patients' needs. One-on-one attention is directed at teaching and educating the patient in order to promote and maintain long term patient recovery.

Offering a wide variety of manual and exercise based treatment methods and incorporating passive treatment modalities such as heat, ice, ultrasound, and electric stimulation our team of providers is able to target areas of tension and spasm, correct joint stiffness and restore mobility and pain free movement. Hands-on and Manual treatment is applied to release tight muscles and gain mobility in restricted stiff joints. State of the art exercise equipment is also employed including, treadmills, stationary bikes, resistance training machines and vibration plates. Patients are then instructed in appropriate home exercises to strengthen their back and the patient is given a individualized program to perform at home in order to have the tools necessary to maintain their improved state.
