“Getting ready to play golf after 2+ years. DR. Wang not only fusioned my back he had to take out previous apparatus before putting in new cage. It has taken 10 months but I feel so much better. I am walking the beach, playing golf....do yourself a favor if you have a back issue...... see Dr. WAng. He will LISTEN to you.”

“6 weeks ago I had an L4-5 XLIFT done at Thompson Peak, my surgeon was Dr. Mark Wang. Dr Wang took the time to explain what the process was going to be, he wasn't worried about what patient was next in line because it was my time and that was very comforting to know. Too many times doctors treat you like a production line filing people though like there's some sort of quota for the day but not here, not at all. I was very nervous about this surgery, this was going to be my first surgery ever and the moment I met Dr. Wang he made me feel like I was the only patient in the building and he was generally concerned for my wellbeing he knew he had the answers to my pain so all my worries went away in a very short period of time. If you need this surgery or any other surgery this is the place to go.

Thank you very much for being so diligent in your profession and your attention to detail is unmatched in this field. Dr Wang you've helped me see the light of a new healthy beginning and I'm very grateful for what you did for me.

Thank you again.

“L4 L5 fusion 14 month update

I am now and have been completely pain free from crippling rt leg sciatica since my surgery back in Aug 2015. I have no limitations on any activities. I suffered for almost 2 years with terrible burning sciatica pain in my rt leg, from my hip to my foot. Sleeping, sitting and standing was becoming so painful that I ended up using a wheelchair just prior to my surgery. When I woke up from my surgery I no longer had any sciatica pain and remain pain free today.

Thanks Dr Wang and staff!”

“After 2 months of progressive neck pain eventually radiating down my arm, I was referred to Dr. P. Gause by my pain management physician. Over just a few days the pain became unbearable in spite of an epidural and pain medication. On a Friday afternoon, which is not a good time to make changes, Dr. Gause was able to advance my surgery to Monday am. He performed a "ACDF" from C6 to T1. I awoke pain free!

I can't thank him enough, not only for his technical expertise but his compassion for expediting the surgery, considering the unrelenting pain that I was experiencing. Now 3 week post-op, I remain pain free.”

“If you have any back issues. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dr. Wang. I bring a list of questions and he ALWAYS listens to all your concerns and pain. The hospital staff told me how competent he is and to place complete confidence in him. When other doctors and hospital staff sing his praise you know that you have made a good decision.

He had to preform a surgery after my first fusion fell apart. Dr. Wang removed the previous appliances and inserted stronger appliances. My surgery was 2 months ago and I am healing nicely.walk a minimal" of a mile a day.

Dr. Wang was able to place comfort and confidence for my husband and me.

I wish that he was a primary care doctor. He LISTENS.

“I had been suffering with severe sciatica pain from my rt butt down my leg into my ankle for six months. I finally got to the point where I couldn't walk, sit or lie down without being in screaming pain. Dr Wang and his staff are the reason I'm totally pain free today. Dr Wang removed a ganglion cyst that was pressing down hard on my L5 nerve that was causing my pain. He also did a L4,

L5 fusion because my spine wasn't stable.

Right now I'm just over 3 weeks post op, walking 6 miles a day and feeling great! ”

“I went to Dr. Gause because I couldn't walk more than a half a block because of the pain in my back. Everyone warned me about back surgery and how it never works out. My surgery was fairly extensive, but the next morning I was walking without pain and have been ever since then. Thank you Dr. Gause for a wonderful experience and giving me my mobility back.”

  • Synovial Cyst removal

“I made an appointment with the Spine Institute after being diagnosed with a synovial cyst between my L4/L5. The cyst was pressing on my nerves and I had severe sciatic nerve pain down my right leg into my foot. I had been unable to sit, stand, lie down without terrible pain for 3 weeks and couldn't drive, so I missed work as well.

Bill, the PA at the practice, saw me and reviewed my imaging tests. He was friendly, knowledgable, and took the time to explain what we were looking at and possible options for treatment. We first scheduled a procedure where Dr Rowley tried aspirating the cyst and injecting steroid first. When this did nothing, I saw Bill again and we discussed surgery. I was desperate to get rid of the horrible pain. Bill was caring and thorough, and worked immediately with the staff to get my surgery scheduled with Dr Dohring and we set an appointment for me to see him pre- surgery. They took x Rays and checked my spine stability. Even though I do have some disc degeneration from L3 down and a very slight spondolysthesis at L5 which Bill pointed out to me, my back is stable and has never given me problems.

At my pre-surgery appointment, Dr. Dohring was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain the procedure. He was surprised with my age since most people with synovial cysts are much older than 45! He explained the minor laminectomy to get to the cyst and remove it. He felt great about my prognosis and said that i would probably be pain free (from the nerve pain) immediately after surgery. I was happy to hear this!!

He spoke with me on the morning of the surgery again and I felt confident in the plan. As soon as I woke up from the surgery, I could tell that the pain was gone!!! Dr Dohring was quick to report my surgery outcome to my mother who was in the waiting room. He was friendly, positive, and also ordered a PT consultation for me so that I could get clear PT instructions before I went home from the procedure!

When the nurse helped me get up to use the restroom an hour before I went home, I felt no nerve pain!!! I was sore from the surgery of course but NO sciatic nerve pain at all!!

I am now five days post-surgery and am thrilled to report that I am sciatic nerve pain FREE!!!

I am recovering well, naturally have some soreness from surgery, and am following instructions on my restrictions. I am careful to rest but also am doing my PT at home and walking.

I can't thank Bill, Dr Dohring, Sarah, Heather, and the staff at the Spine Institute for helping me when I was in such horrible pain! Their warmth, attention to detail, and sense of urgency to help me was unbelievable! Thank you so much to all of you!! I am confident that once I am healed, I will be back to my pain free life that I had before that bothersome cyst!!

Highly recommend this practice to anyone dealing with back pain. ”

“Wow! What else can I say about the "miracle" that describes my experience with Dr. Wang and the team at Spine Institute of AZ? I suffered for years with chronic, debilitating sciatic nerve pain due to an unstable L5 spondylolisthesis. I tried every possible alternative treatment in an effort to alleviate my pain: pills, epidural injections, RFA, PT, massage, exercise, chiropractic and acupuncture - with little to no results. It just kept getting worse. A friend referred me to Dr. Wang. During our first meeting, he looked at my MRI's, smiled and said, "I can fix that!". He was confident where the others I had consulted weren't so sure. Immediately after the extremely involved surgery, I woke up virtually pain free for the first time in almost 3 years! I did have discomfort related to the incisions on my abdomen and my lower back. I had limited mobility the first 3 weeks but then I started being able to move around pretty well. After only 7 weeks, I have begun some mild stretching exercises. I know I still have a while before I am completely healed but I look forward to a life that is pain free. Thank you Dr. Wang. ”

  • Spinal Assessment

“I met with Dr. Allen L. Rowley, MD on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. I was seeking treatment for recurring spinal pain. After having visited other doctors and medical professionals over a period of years, I finally found a doctor to explain the circumstances, all my options, what to expect going forward, and how to improve my spinal health without unnecessary treatments and invasive surgeries. In less than an hour, he shared the X-Rays with me, described my condition, explained so much more than I've ever been told! I highly recommend this doctor to anyone with spinal pain - and by the way, we also discussed a problem with my arms / hands since I thought it might be related. It wasn't, and though this is outside his specialty, he took time to discuss it, and suggest treatment options. In a single visit, this doctor earned my complete trust and confidence.”

“After several years of trying different alternative therapies to reduce the pain in my lower back and down my legs, I agreed to explore spinal surgery. I was apprehensive to say the least! The meeting with Dr. Wang soothed my worries. He is professional, open to all questions and possesses a combination of strength and humility I find that is rarely found in a physician. Due to his skill and those of his assistant in the operating room, I am now pain-free. I realize now how much the pain I was experiencing prior to the operation had affected my daily life and thinking! Thank you, Dr. Wang and the great staff at the Spine Institute of Arizona. ”

  • XLIF Surgery

“I'm a 49-year old formerly active female who recently had XLIF surgery at L4-L5 performed by Dr. Wang. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wang and the staff at the Spine Institute. My entire experience from the first visit through surgery and follow ups has been terrific. Dr. Wang is very personable and professional, and I had confidence in him from the start. He took time each visit to answer all my questions and discuss my options. I never felt rushed or pressured in any way.

I'm happy to say my surgery was a success and I was walking unassisted within a few days. And, I've been pain-free since I left the hospital! My friends and family were astounded at how mobile I was in the first week.

For anyone suffering with chronic back pain, I highly recommend consulting Dr. Wang, and if applicable, considering the XLIF minimally invasive procedure. I feel brand new!”

“Dr. Wang was referred by my surgeon in Los Angeles. I left a voice mail on a Friday afternoon. That evening Dr. Wang called me and we spoke for about 15 minutes. He saw me in his office the following Monday morning. He's very confident, self-assured, well educated and well trained. I am very comfortable with him and feel confident that my scheduled surgeries will be well performed. I am impressed by the fact that he truly does create a relationship with a patient which, at least in my experience, is sorely lacking in medicine in recent years. He spent a considerable amount of time explaining my current condition and describing what my surgeries will entail. In my opinion (after 18 major surgeries) he is a thoughtful, caring and very competent physician. ”
